When you know, you know…

I loved that set. I love that song. And I loved the significance of the visuals.

But it also hits a sore spot.

Why is it still for me to speak my truth as clearly as Greta has has since she was a child?

Here’s what I grew up with:

Don’t air your laundry in public.
It’s safer to be seen than heard.
But when you’re seen, you’re also in danger.
Don’t be too much.
Don’t take up too much space.
Honor the hierarchy.
Don’t question the leaders — or you will suffer the consequences.
So I learned to stay quiet.

I’m afraid of disappointing people when I speak my truth. And through my work, I’ve become so non-judgmental — to be able to stay curious about someone’s inner world and the understanding that “bad people” aren't born that way but were indoctrinated.

The deeper I go, the harder it is to judge.

I understand how upbringing shapes what you believe is possible. I understand the limiting beliefs that keep you stuck.
I am working through that every single day.

And I also know this:
What we’re seeing in the outer world is the shadow of the collective inner world. What we tolerate. What we’ve become numb to. The places where we betray ourselves, suppress our own voice, accept as normal what was never okay.
The work always starts at the individual level.

I need to break through my own limitations to become everything I have the potential to be.
Working on it.

Out loud.

Right here, right now.

On Tuesday, a whole civilization was threatened with annihilation.

Whether or not you follow politics, this affects the human system.

When you can't predict the outcome, and you're not able to affect the result, your body goes subconsciously into a sympathetic nervous system response. Doesn't matter if you want that or not.

It's biology.

And the same biology runs through your leadership team, your creative department, and every person expected to make good decisions right now.

Here's what happens - and what will help.

At my core, I’m a designer. Designers are problem

At my core, I’m a designer.

Designers are problem solvers. They trace a problem back to its root — then build the solution there.

The problem I help solve?

Reduce bad product.

Or bad decision making

Or lack of creativity.

Here’s where the root of all that actually is:

We make bad products or decisions when we can’t think clearly.
↓
We can’t think clearly when we’re afraid.
↓
We are afraid, when we don’t feel safe.
↓
We don’t feel safe when we can’t predict what comes next.

...

Since 2020 — and the years of cascading instability that followed — our autonomic nervous systems have been running a survival program.

And here’s what happens in survival mode:

We can’t be inspired. We can’t innovate. We can’t collaborate, connect, or grow. The creative bandwidth shuts down.

Not because we’ve lost talent.

Because our biology is focused on survival.

It’s not a motivation problem. It’s not a culture problem (it just turns into one).

It’s biology.

So what now?

Create safety. Not the inspirational quote kind we see on Instagram — the physiological kind.

Accessing your own nervous system and getting into the parasympathetic response on demand.

That’s the work I do now.

I may no longer call myself a designer. But I’m still designing — just now it’s experiences that help you return to safety, connection, and presence in your own body.

Which can be done at scale.

So you can think. Create. Lead.

So you can do your best work.

(You don’t have to consider yourself a ‘creative’ for this to work for you)

And that was before Covid.
